INDUSTRY
Pride Recycling Company / waste processing facility
EQUIPMENT USED
- Versa-Lift
- Rover
- Telehandler All-Terrain forklifts
Omega Morgan is known for innovation and for moving industry forward. That’s why when Pride Recycling Company needed assistance upgrading their waste conveyance system, they turned to Omega Morgan’s machinery moving division. The waste processing company, which serves Washington County and Tigard, OR, recently added food collection and composting to their provided services in an effort to reduce landfill waste and minimize carbon emissions. To accommodate these new services, they needed more space for waste stream conveyance and separation. The full project objective was to first move the facility’s existing 65-foot long, 40,000-pound flight conveyance belt, then add a 38-foot long horizontal belt, and finally, to align and connect the two conveyors. For a move of this size, requiring careful planning and precise execution, Pride knew Omega Morgan was the machinery moving company for the job.
EQUIPMENT MOVERS WITH A FLEET OF RESOURCES
As soon as Omega Morgan’s Portland office received the machinery moving request from Pride, they got into action. The project management team was on-site quickly, assessing what equipment was needed and designing a budget that would meet Pride’s capital expenditure requirements. Initially, the team planned to complete the project in two days, but by tapping into Omega Morgan’s fleet of specialized transportation equipment, they were able to shorten that timeline and reduce the expense to the customer.
Omega Morgan also provided forklifts that served the specific needs of this project. Using Telehandler All-Terrain forklifts enabled the operators to move the conveyor forward and back without moving the base of the forklift. This capability added to the safety and fluidity of the two forklifts moving together.
MACHINERY MOVERS WITH EXPERIENCE YOU CAN TRUST
The day of the job, a crew of six Omega Morgan machinery moving and specialized transportation professionals arrived with a Rover, Versa lift, and three Telehandler All-Terrain forklifts. They began by using the Rover and Versa lift to raise the flight conveyor and move it out of the work area. This presented a challenge, as the conveyor’s length and angle gave it a high center of gravity. Omega Morgan’s team navigated this difficulty through careful planning and expert handling. Once the conveyor was safely moved, the team used the Telehandler forklifts to synchronistically lift the 38-foot, 30,000 pound horizontal conveyor onto 16-foot column frame tubes. The machinery moving team then welded new footings into the floor where the flight conveyor would be relocated. Finally, the pre-existing flight conveyor was moved back into the work area, aligned precisely with the horizontal conveyor, and secured into its new footings.
The impressive result was a 98,000-pound upgraded flight conveyor system that stretched 103 feet long, allowing Pride Recycling Company the capacity to transport the additional food collection waste and sort it into its proper disposal locations.
HEAVY EQUIPMENT MOVING THAT EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS
Omega Morgan’s years of experience with municipal clients gives them a deep understanding of how crucial it is to provide service within an allotted time frame. For this project in particular, the stream of waste flowing into the Pride facility could not be paused for long. Therefore, it was critical to complete the conveyor belt upgrade as quickly as possible. As always, the Omega Morgan team of heavy machinery movers and specialized transportation professionals provided quality service and prioritized safety. They were able to complete the project ahead of schedule and below budget, exceeding Pride’s expectations and helping to keep their industry moving.
