Omega Morgan’s machinery moving team in Dallas delivered exceptional results for a battery energy storage company in Texas. The customer needed support receiving and preparing their production line equipment for final installation.

Due to shipping delays, the project was under a tight timeline and required a quick turnaround. Thanks to the flexibility and skill of the Omega Morgan team, a crew of 21 was assembled and the project got underway, maintained pace, and was successfully completed on schedule.

The Challenge: Relocate Critical Industrial Equipment Without Interrupting Operations

Coordinating a Complex Machinery Move

Once onsite, the Omega Morgan crew provided diligent support helping the customer receive, inspect, uncrate, remove waste, and transfer and rough-set their production line equipment for final installation. Over a nine week period, the crews worked on 16 truckloads per day, received 315 containers, and uncrated and set over 500 pieces of equipment.

Working Within Facility Constraints

One particularly challenging task within the scope of this project was to manage the assembly and installation of an extremely heavy, multi-level piece of equipment inside a space-constrained portion of the facility. Each of the four equipment pieces weighed 14,000 pounds and needed to be stacked precisely. When assembled, they would reach a height of 32 feet.

Given the tight space within the customer’s facility, assembling these pieces of equipment would require an innovative approach. However, with the team’s extensive rigging and machinery moving experience, they were well-equipped to devise a solution.

The Solution: Experienced Machinery Movers and Detailed Project Planning

Lift Planning and Coordination

The Omega Morgan crew quickly developed a plan that would allow them to lift and place the equipment despite the overhead obstructions, limited load capacities, large equipment dimensions, and tight operating space—at times just two inches between the crane and ceiling.

Specialized Machinery Moving Equipment

Utilizing the small footprint of a compact, 75-ton truck crane, the crew coordinated a lift sequence in which they carefully set each piece of equipment in place individually and used custom rigging to ensure exact placement.

Precision Equipment Placement

This innovative process and usage of special equipment allowed the crew to successfully complete the move within the tight space, ultimately eliminating the need for costly structural modifications of the facility or incurring extended downtime.

The Result: Delivered a Safe, Efficient Machinery Relocation for the Customer

The customer was very pleased with the skilled and safe work performed by the Omega Morgan team, saying:

“Overall, very safe practices…The Omega Morgan team was extremely helpful onsite, worked well with the difficult project and offered solutions… response was quick to the agile changes, per our needs.”

The Dallas team was happy to provide the quick turnaround and comprehensive support their customer needed to reach their project goals.
