The Yelm School District had ordered two new modular classrooms for Millpond Elementary School to accommodate a growing number of students and classrooms. The building company they worked with had the buildings ready to go—they just needed a crane company and the equipment necessary to make the final placement and installation of the two units. Enter Omega Morgan’s Seattle crane services crews, with the equipment and expertise to place the units safely.

A JOB FOR THE CRANE SERVICES EXPERTS

Our crane services team performed a site walk with the school district and the building company to determine the best course of action for placing the units. They were 15’ wide, 64’ long, and 12’ tall, weighing in at 20,000 lbs each. The units had to be pre-staged within picking radius, while still allowing for crane access. It was critical for our crane crew to take good measurements on site to make sure the crane could get into place after the pieces had been staged—if they were staged too far away, our team wouldn’t be able to pick them up. After a few site visits, and careful building and modification of plans, our teams were ready to execute the placement of the units.

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL MOVE BY A WORLD-CLASS CRANE COMPANY

On a foggy morning, the building company staged the two modular units for placement, and Omega Morgan’s crew—one crane operator, one oiler, one rigger/bellman, along with four trucks to haul counterweight—arrived to lift and guide the two units into place.

Using our 350-ton Grove crane, the crew inspected and prepped the modular units, rigged them, and safely guided them into their final locations at Millpond Elementary School. Once they were in place, the building company got to work to finalize the installation, and make sure the units were safe and sound for students and staff.

Both the building company and the Yelm School District were happy with the crane team’s efforts, including Omega Morgan’s efficient and safety-oriented approach to the installation of their two new buildings.
