Omega Morgan crane services branded crane at Puget Sound Energy site with a puddle reflecting the logo

With a rock-solid partnership and a lot of precise planning, doing the impossible doesn’t seem so difficult. Our crane services crews recently partnered with McDermott International to support their client, Puget Sound Energy, with loading, transporting and setting over 100,000 pounds of equipment at their facility.

One of the options for moving the equipment was by a barge crane. But we offered another solution that ended up reducing cost for our customer: using a mobile crane and setting the equipment from the dock.

This meant we’d need to be extremely precise in our planning. Due to the weight of the equipment combined with the weight of the crane, we had to ensure the ground bearing pressure (GBP) was low enough to bear the load. McDermott and Omega Morgan worked closely together to make sure that the load bearing information, weight distribution and positioning were all precisely calculated. We checked, double-checked and checked again–and all equipment was moved and set safely.

We’re very pleased to have worked with the fantastic team at McDermott on this project, and as always, we’re proud of our expert crews for constantly having their eye on precision, safety, efficiency, and cost-saving solutions.
