SUMMARY

Responsible for managing end-to-end operations within the Logistics division.  Working internally with leadership, sales, and warehousing teams to optimize a business’ supply chain and align it with our segment and company growth goals. Nurture external relationships with vendors and carriers and drive revenue with additional transportation service offerings. Responsible for preparing logistics operations for expected challenges (such as spikes in seasonal demand), and for building a resilient business segment that is strong and stable enough to withstand unforeseen challenges in the industry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Have daily control and leadership through the functional line of the logistics operations and will coordinate actions with other departments.
  • Ensure safety, schedule, quality, and targets are consistently met while adhering to project and company requirements.
  • Will set, in cooperation with the leadership team, yearly targets for all functional areas and will define, implement, and manage to operational KPI’s throughout the logistics business . e.g. labor efficiency, sell rates, lane specific carrier bases, execution time, external costs and margin.
  • You will create an environment in which current and future employees can develop and grow and will ensure functional descriptions, evaluations, trainings, and sufficient operational knowhow are available.
  • Offer guidance to the logistics coordinators on the best ways to maximize our earnings, while delivering a high level of customer service using premium partner carriers
  • Liaise with the corporate back office, including but not limited to, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, as it relates to owner operator and carrier settlements and cash flow for the business unit.
  • Use industry contacts, peers, and other professional networks to identify business opportunities and develop long term business relationships and liaise with the sales team to do so.
  • Present business opportunities and cases to the sales team members ensuring a focus on innovation and client focus.
  • Work closely with management, sales, and client representatives to ensure a smooth delivery of services and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Ensure incidents are addressed appropriately and corrective actions are in place with interaction and direct support from the Safety department.
  • Assist the contracts and estimating teams with the responses to RFP’s by participating in the completion of the project bid.
  • Review and refine processes to continuously improve safety, cost control, operations, and carrier onboarding.
  • Analyze process and procedures, document and create standard SOP and implement to create synergy and efficiencies throughout the business unit and in-turn with the rest of the organization
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 10 or more years of related transportation, logistics, and/or hands on industrial field experience
  • Prior leadership experience in a fast-paced environment.
